Easter Sunday
2021-04-04
On Easter Sunday, believers gathered in the church in the morning, where they listened to Mass throughout – this is also related to the tradition of sanctification. They went to church with the basket. The basket contained cake, eggs, wine, and lamb consecrated. Each dish had its own significance: the egg is a symbol of rebirth, the wine is the blood of Jesus, and the lamb is a symbol of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
The Easter egg painting custom has different motifs in every area of my country: the classic patterns are the methods of embroidery, writing, scratching or horseshoeing – usually showing plant motifs. The red egg has a special role because this color symbolizes the blood of Jesus Christ. It is an Easter custom that when people , if the family eats them together, they will remain an eternal memory and as a result they can return home anytime, wherever life takes them.
The Easter rabbit belongs to the colorful cavalcade of traditions.
It is a known fact that the egg, together with the rabbit, has been a symbol of fertility since ancient times, as rabbits raise many offspring, which is why people have long considered them a symbol of fertility. In many places, a nest is formed for the „rabbit” of the Easter Bunny, and outside the eggs are hidden small gifts for the family ‘s younger children (stuffed animals, chocolate rabbits, etc.)
And what doesn’t change is the sanctity of the family, the love for each other, the turning to each other, the attention.
The real miracle of Easter, the triumph of life, of new life!
I wish everyone a happy Easter full of love, attention and patience!
